Bleaching hair with Hydrogen Peroxide?

Okay, so here's the deal. I'm cutting my hair to about a half inch, and I want it light blond. I have really dark blond hair, and I want to lighten it. If I use hydrogen peroxide, I need to know how long to leave it in, how much to use, how to use it, and all of the negative side effects that might happen. Please help me!

i dedi my hair with hydrogen peroxide. you may want t omix it with conditioner( alot for that matter, so about 1/2 and 1/2) and let it sit in your hair for about 15 minutes for 2 steps up, 30 for 5, 45 for 10. the problem is that if you dont have silky smooth hair now, forget it! after peroxide

Yikes, don't use peroxide! Go to a professional hairdresser and have it enzyme-lightened. That is my suggestion. Good luck!

If your hair has any brown in it at all, it will lighten to an orangey-gold color with straight peroxide. If your hair is more of a neutral greyish, or ash blonde, you may not have problems with it going "off color." Also, drug-store first aid kit peroxide will take many applications before you see any noticeable results. The peroxide bleach used professionally is a much higher concentration, and typically blended with other bleaching chemicals.

Personally, I'd stick to a highlighting kit from the store for an easier time. That way, you dont have to buy specialty products that dont come with instructions. If your hair is only 1/2" long, one highlight kit will probably lighten it all just fine, and the instructions are straight forward.

If you're really worried about the results, have a professional do it. Just make sure you get a nice moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for lightened hair, 'cause professionally done or not, it is going to be dried out.
