What should she do? It's been this way for years, but it's time for a change. She usually dyes at home, and this fits her budget. Do you dye it red first? How does it not go green? or gray? Please give me all steps and information; I have never had any experience with dying hair!!

Yes you should colour your hair red first, but this depends on the depth of brown you are going, for dark brown use a red filler, if you are going a light brown you will only need a orange filler. A filler is a colour you put on before going dark (this can be a semi permanent left on for about 5 mins then blotted out with a towel don't rinse out the filler then apply the desired colour over the top and develope for recommended time) doing this will prevent the hair from going green (and yes it will go green/khaki if you don't do this) but remember it's very hard to just go back to blonde if you change your mind. cut it off short and let it grow out, keep cutting till all the bleached hair is gone, then dye what you want it to be, no home dye will ever look right over bleached hair. you never dye it red first thats silly, i dyed mine brown after bleaching and it was purple.

Some times with bleached hair it is hard to tell how it is going to come out. It may not ever come out right and she may need to start cutting it off little by little. Some times even when doing it in a salon they can't get the bleached hair to look right.
