I am a 55 year old woman who is tired of lightening her hair to look like Gidget and would rather have hair like Meryl Streeps in "The Devil Wears Prada". How can I achieve that look? Any recommendation for best gray colorist in SF Bay Area?

Hair can never be colored back to grey. Once you get your hair lightened, it removes grey pigment permanently. You can color hair with ash grey color but it will look nothing like natural grey. Best thing to do is to let it grow out. While you see the roots coming in, just get a partial hilight with lowlights. Get less and less coloring until your hair is all natural. Bring pictures of Merl in to your stylist to give her an idea of what you want.
